Benefits of REM
BREM-study
Real-Ear Measurements (REM) are used to verify that the sound output of a hearing aid at the eardrum corresponds accurately to the prescribed amplification targets. REM is recommended by ISO standards as the gold standard for hearing aid fitting. However, the procedure is time-consuming, requires specialized expertise, and depends on dedicated, often costly equipment.
This study addresses the following key questions:
-
What is the actual clinical benefit of Real-Ear Measurements (REM) for hearing aid users?
-
Does a hearing aid fitted using REM lead to better functional hearing outcomes compared with fittings based solely on manufacturers' built-in, user-friendly algorithms?
